On Monday, the Washington Redskins announced they will change their team name and logo after over 85 years of being called the Washington Redskins. This happened in the wake of PC corporate and liberal pressure to ditch the name over non-existent bigoted connotations. The team originated in Boston before relocating to D.C. after its 1936 season.

That pressure did not come from Indians themselves, who had no problem with the name and were in some cases proud of it. As usual, the pressure came from scared corporations and PC pressure groups staffed to the hilt with masochistic white liberals who are ready at the drop of a war bonnet to insert themselves into situations they have nothing to do with.

The team announced its craven capitulation to cancel culture in this timid fashion: “On July 3rd, we announced the commencement of a thorough review of the team’s name. That review has begun in earnest. As part of this process, we want to keep our sponsors, fans and community apprised of our thinking as we go forward. Today, we are announcing we will be retiring the Redskins name and logo upon completion of this review. Dan Snyder and Coach Rivera are working closely to develop a new name and design approach that will enhance the standing of our proud, tradition rich franchise and inspire our sponsors, fans and community for the next 100 years.”

Though a new name has not been announced as of yet, the “Battlin’ Bureaucrats,” the “Deep State Perverts,” and the “Imperial Tax Collectors” are monikers not thought to be in the running.

Corporate PC shills danced over the grave of the once great football team. “Washington’s decision to change its franchise mascot and logo is a positive step toward creating a world where inclusivity is the norm. As a major partner of the NFL and many individual teams, we fully support their recent steps to stand against racism and inequality. Anheuser-Busch and Bud Light look forward to working with the Washington team and all of our partners across the NFL to bring players, fans, and local communities together this season,” said an Anheuser-Busch spokesperson.

Cancel culture retailers such as Amazon, Walmart and Target, as well as Nike and Dick’s Sporting Goods, all removed Redskins merchandise from their websites last week, thus denying the Washington franchise heap big wampum.

This will only encourage PC cultural terrorists to seek to put more scalps on their belt. Like innocent wagon train travelers, likely sports victims in range of the spears and arrows of PC cultural savages include the Cleveland Indians and the Atlanta Braves. Strangely enough, the many descendants of Scandinavian immigrants to this country and the progeny of those who came to California in the 19th century seeking riches, have not registered complaints against the Minnesota Vikings or the San Francisco 49ers.

Though it is rumored in certain circles that marine fauna advocates and inanimate object activists are particularly concerned over the vicious racial prejudices inherent in the team names Miami Dolphins and New York Jets. Given the 2019 records of both teams, no one is likely to care one way or another.
