Fox News fires host Ed Henry for sexual misconduct allegations: Fans stunned

Henry had just been rebuilding his broadcasting career after a four-month leave of absence in 2016 due to an extra-marital affair with a Las Vegas cocktail waitress.

Fox News shocked fans on Wednesday by announcing it is firing “America’s Newsroom” host Ed Henry for sexual misconduct allegations.

This was revealed in an internal memo obtained by The Hill that was written by Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott and Jay Wallace, Fox News Media‘s president and executive editor, respectively.

“We would like to bring a very serious matter to your attention in an effort toward full transparency given the many actions we have taken to improve the culture here over the last four years,” the memo began.

“On Thursday, June 25, we received a complaint about Ed Henry from a former employee’s attorney involving willful sexual misconduct in the workplace years ago,” it continued. “We immediately retained an outside law firm (which has never represented Fox News in investigations or litigation) to independently investigate the claims. Ed was suspended the same day and removed from his on-air responsibilities pending investigation.”

“Based on investigative findings, Ed has been terminated,” the memo added. Henry had been with Fox News since 2011, and had been named as a co-anchor of “America’s Newsroom” late last year. “Fox News Media strictly prohibits all forms of sexual harassment, misconduct, and discrimination. We will continue striving to maintain a safe and inclusive workplace for all employees,” Scott and Wallace added in an email that was sent to Fox News employees.

Henry had just been rebuilding his broadcasting career after a four-month leave of absence in 2016 due to an extra-marital affair with Las Vegas cocktail waitress Natalia Lima, according to Daily Mail. Henry took time off to work on his marriage to his wife Shirley Hung, who was then NPR‘s Deputy Washington Editor, after Lima went public about their affair. “Whenever he was in town, we would pretty much just have sex. He has a really high sex drive,” Lima said, adding that they even had sex in the hotel where he married his wife. Even former Fox CEO Roger Ailes slammed Henry when the affair came to light, saying that “this raises serious questions about Ed’s lack of judgment, especially given his position as a journalist.”
