Friday marked the one year anniversary of the death of Beth Chapman, who tragically passed away last year at the age of 51 following a battle with throat and lung cancer.
To mark the somber occasion, her husband Duane “Dog The Bounty Hunter” Chapman hosted a special sunrise hike in her honor.
People magazine reported that Dog announced the hike earlier this week on Instagram, writing that “Prayer will take place on the beach and in the water.”
“Bring your board and flowers so we can remember Mrs. Dog the right way,” he continued, before telling those who aren’t in Hawaii to “go on a walk, hike and take a picture” in her honor.
“Let’s make it viral. Post a picture on all your social media accounts using the #fortheloveofbeth hashtag!!!! Please share and spread the word!” he concluded.
Beth’s daughter Cecily shared photos of the hike to Instagram, captioning the images, “#ForTheLoveofBeth 1 Year sunrise Hike.”
This comes a month after Dog paid tribute to Beth on what would have been their 14th wedding anniversary.
“She said Big Daddy your [sic] going to be so sad when I am not here on our next anniversary,” he captioned a photo of them together. “Why did she have to be so right??”
Though Dog has been devastated by Beth’s death, he has found comfort in a new relationship with Colorado rancher Francie Frane.
Dog proposed to Frane last month, and afterwards, he revealed why he firmly believes Beth would support the relationship.
“I need a partner,” he said. “I’ve said it before. There will never be another Mrs. Dog. There is not. Francie couldn’t do that. There will be a last Mrs. Chapman. If Beth was here, and saw Francie and saw how she was raised, her morality and this and that, Beth would say, ‘Big daddy, don’t lose her.'”
“You’ll never forget the spouse,” Dog continued.
“You can’t help it. I will never forget. But I’ve got to get out there. I’ve got to be able to say, ‘I came out of this and you can, too.’ As a human being, I don’t think you look for — not a replacement, because you can never find one. I’m learning that right now.”
