The House Democrat leadership Monday proposed a bill that would take the local inane and dangerous cry of “defund the police” and make it national policy. The bill as currently written will be dead on arrival at the Senate. The Democrats know this.

But nevertheless, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and other top Democrats, before presenting the legislation, sanctimoniously knelt for eight minutes and 46 seconds of silence to honor meth addict and serial offender (who once held a loaded gun to the stomach of a pregnant woman) George Floyd, whose death at the hands of the Minneapolis police has sparked weeks of violent riots.

While Floyd certainly did not deserve to be killed by police and his killer should face the full consequences for his action, turning Floyd into a martyr is laughable and just another example of Democrat disinformation that the press eats up. Those who will enjoy the taste the most? The Antifa allies of the national Democratic Party.

And, here it goes: “The martyrdom of George Floyd gave American experience a moment of national anguish as we grieve for African Americans killed by police brutality. Now it is being transformed into a moment of national action,” said Pelosi, adding, “We cannot settle for anything less than transformative structural change.” There’s that word Democrats use when they mean radical leftist proposals, “transformative.” The president hit back at his earliest opportunity. “This year has seen the lowest crime numbers in our Country’s recorded history, and now the Radical Left Democrats want to Defund and Abandon our Police. Sorry, I want LAW & ORDER!” the president tweeted on Monday.

Democrat Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) apparently empathized with rioters in cities and towns around the country, “Empathy and sympathy and words of caring for those who have died and suffered is necessary but not enough. We must change laws and systems of accountability.”

Bill co-sponsor Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), a possible choice to be de facto Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s veep pick, said, “We are here because black Americans want to stop being killed.” Then perhaps we should look at the stats and see just who is doing a majority of the killing of black Americans. Oh, wait. Can’t do that.

The loony anti-police bill would change the definition of criminal misconduct for law enforcement. So instead of “willfully” violating the rights of an offender, police could be charged after the fact with “knowing or reckless disregard.”

Senate GOP Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (KY) said last week, “It’s something we need to take a look at.” Though on the Senate floor on Monday he said calls to “defund police” were “outlandish” and that “well-trained law enforcement officers are an important part of creating safe communities, not something to defund or abolish.” White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany said President Trump hasn’t yet reviewed the bill, “But there are some non-starters in there, I would say.”

Attorney General Bill Barr blasted the legislation and calls from protesters and activists to defund police departments, saying to media, “The police chiefs, the rank-and-file officers understand the need for change and there has been great change. I think defunding the police, holding the entire police structure responsible for the actions of certain officers is wrong and I think it is dangerous to demonize police. If you pull back the police from these communities there will be more harm done in these communities.”
