Believe cops are violent racists? Then sign a pledge to never summon police help

American society has always lived with hyperbole and some partisan unfairness in the press. You’ve likely heard about the contentious Adams-Jefferson presidential campaign of 1800. During that campaign, the two founding fathers had a parting of ways—to say the least. But later, both famously reconciled and died on the same day—July 4th, 1826, the 50^th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

According to Merriam-Webster.com, Jefferson supposedly hired a “journalist,” James Thomas Callender, to write negative stories about his opponent. Whether or not Jefferson hired him, the man opposed Adams for president, and his ability to insult was transcendent.

Callender accused John Adams of being “a hideous hermaphroditical character which has neither the force and firmness of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman.” I don’t think even Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) has said anything like that about President Donald Trump.

This may be the bias of presentism speaking, but today, the intolerance of the Left against the police and opposing political views seems different—somehow worse. Maybe it’s the 24/7 instant news world we live in. Or maybe it just seems that way because the ground beneath our feet is saturated in media bias and political partisanship. Perhaps it is the increasing violence and the cancel culture: if we don’t like it, you can’t watch, hear, or read it—or we’ll get you fired or beat you up.

While there has always been partisan bickering, when radical Left politicians control the Democratic Party, a huge percentage of non-law enforcement/military government workers, almost all of academia, most of the entertainment media, and nearly all of mainstream news media, people who believe in a traditional America (like most cops do) understand the odds during any national election are stacked against them.

It doesn’t matter what the FBI and DOJ statistics show about the lack of “police brutality” against blacks. It doesn’t matter what several scholarly studies have concluded. It doesn’t matter that the numbers prove there is no systemic or institutional racial bias in policing.

It doesn’t matter what the truth is because the Left doesn’t care about the truth. It only cares about either seizing or retaining political power. Truth is matter to socialism’s antimatter. Professor Eileen F. Toplansky wrote eloquently about the issue in an article titled, “De-Policing: The Handmaiden of Socialism” for the American Thinker.

Citing Heather Mac Donald’s brilliant work on the topic, she quotes, “the National Academy of Sciences demolishes the Democratic narrative regarding race and police shootings, which holds that white officers are engaged in an epidemic of racially biased shootings of black men.” It’s not true, but, again, the truth doesn’t seem to matter.

According to the study, white cops do not shoot black people at a greater rate than black or Hispanic officers do. The study found it’s not about the officer’s race; it’s about the crime rates of people within a racial group that correlate to the prevalence of police shootings. The conclusion explains the frequency of which cops deal with violent suspects of a given race, the greater chance there is for a person of that race being shot by a police officer.

If the police are dealing with violent criminal suspects of one race at a higher rate than their representation in the population at large, there will also be a higher rate of shootings. Ironically, for those who believe in the police brutality myth, the study also found “if there is bias in police shootings after crime rates are taken into account, it is against white civilians.”

Does any of this matter? Nope. It is maddening that the facts exist and yet we have entire partisan factions of politicians, public sector employees, journalists, professors, and celebrities that refuse to even consider that it might be true that cops do not engage in systemic, institutionalized, racially motivated police brutality. Once again, where most of these complaints and protests occur are in perennially Democrat-run jurisdictions.

When leftists refer to “systemic” and “institutionalized” racism, they conveniently leave out that the states and cities experiencing the most racial unrest are Democrat. The leftist Democrats and socialists are the system and they run the institutions.

Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and other leftist groups and their acolytes prefer to believe the myth; they want to believe the myth; they need to believe the myth, even though believing the fable guarantees more division, more strife, more violence.

For many leftwing activists, victimhood seems to give their lives a perverse special meaning. As if they are latter-day civil rights activists in the mold of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. when, in reality, there is not the slightest comparison.

MLK had a massive reserve of moral authority when he led the civil rights movement in the 1960s. A moral authority purchased with enormous personal sacrifices and a sacred commitment to non-violence. BLM and Antifa have no moral authority to dictate anything to anyone.

Today’s leftist radicals don body armor comprised of belligerent ignorance. An ignorance not born of not knowing but of not wanting to know, which is an abdication of one’s integrity and the abandonment of one’s humanity.

And it is humanity that suffers, including inhibiting law enforcement officers trying to do a dangerous job despite the plethora of lies told about them and the glut of cowardly mainstream entities, media, corporate, small business, academia, and entertainment all abetting the lies. Lies told about cops by people who should know better, who should be better, who should do better, but who are not better.

Any person or entity that joins with BLM or Antifa in wanting to defund or abolish the police should sign a pledge NEVER to call the police ever again when they are in trouble. I am not kidding. Not if your house is burglarized, not if you are being assaulted or raped, not if your child is being stalked by a sex offender, not if four armed thugs are attempting to beat down your back door. Not for any reason.

To malign the police so despicably and then call for police officers to respond when you are being harmed by a criminal shows an astonishing level of hypocrisy. After all, lefties are always composing open letters critical of this or that, wanting someone to resign from something, with hundreds or even thousands of signatories.

So, let’s go, lefties. Put your money (or safety) where your mouth is. If you truly believe cops are racist brutes, why would you ever call them for any reason at all? The answer: If you truly believed that, you wouldn’t.
