Scandals piling up high for Obama

Now the Mexicans want to know more about the Fast and Furious debacle.

With the Durham investigation fast on his tail, his veep Joe Biden tanking over a weak campaign and rape charges, a wife who must be nagging him day in and day out over the start of her own political career, and a legacy that has been trashed by his successor, you’d think the disgraced 44th president would have enough on his plate.

But then, just when Barack Hussein Obama could start to contemplate a momentary breather, a past scandal and boondoggle, long-forgotten by the press who covered it up, is now coming back to haunt him and his law-ignoring Attorney General Eric Holder.

Yes, Fast and Furious, the sequel but not to the movie, is hitting the media courtesy of all people, the Mexicans. It was a dumb stunt that may have had a nefarious undertone, as U.S. agents ran guns to the Mexican drug cartels supposedly hoping to track the guns and thus cartel operations. We somehow thought we’d get all the weapons back.

But an official review of the program found that only 710 out of roughly 2,000 firearms were recovered as of February 2012, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General (OIG). So, the Obama administration, inadvertently or not, supplied the Mexican drug cartels with 1,300 lethal weapons to kill their own business competitors and also massacre innocent people across Mexico.

Now, the Mexicans want answers. Here is their president: “How could this be? A government that invades in this way, that flagrantly violates sovereignty, international laws,” said President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador at a news conference last week. Apparently Snr. Presidente is not familiar with the standard operating procedures of what was the Obama administration.

This might have all continued to be yesterday’s news if it was not for the persuasive abilities of Donald Trump. The two presidents, Trump and Lopez Obrador, are very different politically. Trump is a conservative and Lopez Obrador is a classic Latin American heart-on-your-sleeve leftist. There’s even a touch of Juan Peron about him.

Who do you think is/was a better president?

But both men are populists and both men have faced vicious domestic opposition. Over that, they have personally bonded. That’s why they are working so well together on border issues and 27,000 Mexican troops are now guarding their side of our mutual border. Those soldiers are stopping illegal immigrants before they get close to our side. What was that the president said in 2016 about getting the Mexicans to pay for our border security? Well, there it is.

Thus it is very possible Trump dropped a hint in his pal’s ear and all of a sudden, when Obama and the Democrats can least afford it, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard says this on Monday, “The [Mexican] government requests that it be provided with all the information available regarding the ‘Fast and Furious’ operation.”

“All the information.” Wonder if Eric Holder is checking on the status of his Cuban visa right now. And the disgraced 44th president? He is relatively secure in the media and cultural edifice he has built around himself. The New York Times, Netflix, and other levers of power shield him from much of the American consequences regarding the actions of his regime. But this isn’t coming from America. This is coming from south of the border and at just the right time to coincide with a slew of other issues for Obama… Have a nice summer and fall, Barry.
