Elon Musk, the billionaire investor and entrepreneur who is said to be the model for Tony Stark in “Ironman,” has had enough of overweening state government virus restrictions.

No stranger to controversy, CBS reports Musk let loose during an earnings review phone call: “If somebody wants to stay in their house, that’s great. They can stay in their house and they should not be compelled to leave. But to say that they cannot leave their house and they will be arrested if they do—this is fascist. This is not democratic. This is not freedom. Give people back their g—d— freedom.”

He added: “The extension of the shelter-in-place or frankly what I would call it, forcibly imprisoning people in their homes against all their constitutional rights…and breaking people’s freedom in ways that are horrible and wrong and not why people came to America or built this country—what the f—. Excuse me. Outrage. So it will cause great harm, not just to Tesla, but [to] many companies.”

The sharp and lovely Cheryl Chumley of The Washington Times echoed Musk’s message, “Or better yet: How about people simply take back their freedoms… In America, after all, government is subservient to the people… Government works for the citizenry… The relationship is this: The people elect politicians to represent their constitutional issues in government, for the country as a whole. But politicians are still bound by the Constitution. The rule of law still prevails—not the individual will.”

Musk and Chumley are merely channeling the thoughts of by now a vast majority of Americans. This has gone on too long. Citizens all over the nation are defying nanny state edicts by safely going about their business, but going about their business nonetheless.

Their patriotic and liberty-loving attitude recalls what Oliver Cromwell said to the Rump Parliament and Leo Amery said to Neville Chamberlain, “You have been sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, GO!”
