A female black Democrat state representative from Detroit, Michigan is in hot water with her party. The great offense? She said “thank you” to President Trump for recommending a drug which brought her back to good health. Now they want her scalp. In response, the president has invited her to join the GOP.
The Democrats say that Rep. Karen Whitsett violated party rules by meeting with President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence at an April 14th White House confab of coronavirus survivors. There she said hydroxychloroquine saved her life from the threat of COVID-19. The president had previously advocated the possibility of using the drug to treat coronavirus. She then thanked the president.
Whitsett had said previously that if it weren’t for the president pushing the anti-malarial drug through the Food and Drug Administration’s usually slow approval process she may not have survived the virus.
“I really want to say thank you for giving me this opportunity,” said Whitsett on “The Ingraham Angle.“ She added, “For me, it [the drug] saved my life.”
The resolution Michigan Democrats have written to condemn her for merely telling the truth states that Whitsett “has repeatedly and publicly praised the president’s delayed and misguided COVID-19 response efforts in contradiction with the scientifically based and action-oriented response, endangering the health, safety and welfare of her constituents, the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan.”
Gibberish. It’s political payback for a woman brave enough to do what is right in the face of a blind senseless hate that puts politics above the safety of people. And what in the world would a bunch of Michigan Democrat pols know about “the health, safety and welfare of the city of Detroit”?
Have they ever looked around Detroit and noticed what their corrupt leadership has done to a once proud center of American automakers? These very same people who damn Karen Whitsett have reduced a major U.S. city to ashes, to urban blight, to long-term rampant crime, to a dangerous and corroded monument to their own avarice and stupidity. Karen Whitsett may get that. If so, she indeed belongs in the GOP.
