MSNBC spreads race-baiting claim: ‘If you want the government to open, then you want more black and brown people to die’

MSNBC continued to shamelessly make the coronavirus pandemic all about race on Sunday, when they allowed a group of “experts” to outrageously claim that anyone who wants the country to be reopened actually wants “more black and brown people to die.”

During Sunday’s episode of “AM Joy” with Joy Reid, Boston Globe op-ed writer Renee Graham said that she doesn’t think the protesters who are calling for the country to reopen actually care about losing their jobs, businesses, and livelihoods. Instead, all Graham sees is “a bunch of white people” who are protesting because they want to see more black and brown people die.

“One thing I think is really interesting is how these protests have started after all the headlines last week or so about the disproportionate effect the virus is having in communities of color, and so when I look at these protests what I see are a bunch of white people essentially saying ‘oh, it’s affecting those people, so why do I have to change my life for them,'” she said.

Of course, Reid didn’t challenge Graham on this, so it should come as no surprise that she also didn’t speak up when The Root‘s senior writer Michael Harriot said that the protesters are saying “quite clearly” that they “want more black and brown people to die.”

“If you want the government to open up, then you want more black and brown people to die,” Harriot added. While reports have been coming in this week indicating that African Americans may be being disproportionately affected by coronavirus, thousands of white people all over the world have been killed from the virus as well, so it’s ridiculous to argue that white people think it doesn’t affect them.

It’s also preposterous to imply that these protesters have not been impacted by COVID-19 in any way, given the fact that many of them have lost their jobs and seen their businesses go under because of the pandemic. Contrary to what a leftist network like MSNBC wants you to believe, not everything is about race, and a pandemic like this frankly has nothing to do with skin color. MSNBC analysts can disagree with the protesters calling for the country to be reopened all they want, but twisting this to fit their race-baiting narrative is just despicable.
