“Captain America” star Chris Evans, who has previously referred to President Donald Trump as a “reckless moron” and a “dumb s***,” is now saying that he will temporarily stop his oftentimes profanity-laced rants against the president as he launches a news website that he claims will be politically neutral.

Evans is preparing to launch a website called “A Starting Point,” which will feature two-minute videos of interviews with elected officials of both political parties discussing various topics, according to Breitbart News.

Evans told Esquire that he came up with the idea of the site after Googling something political (he now can’t remember what it was) and not being able to find an answer to it anywhere. “It just was one of those things where you see a hole and you think, I have an idea to fill that,” Evans said.

Evans, however, has run into some issues with launching the site as conservative lawmakers are understandably reluctant to sit down with someone who has launched such hate-filled rhetoric at Republicans in the past. This has led the actor to claim that he will give his hateful political rants against conservatives a break in the teacup to the site’s launch. “I’m going to take my foot off the gas [of social media] for a little bit until we get this thing up and running,” he said.

Evans and his business partner, actor and director Mark Kassen, have flown to Washington, D.C., nine times to interview officials, with limited success in securing talks with Republicans. So far, the lawmakers they have interviewed include Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), and Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT), among others.

“The site is not an antidote. It’s not medicine. It’s not a cure. It’s not the solution. It’s just something I think is helpful,” Evans said. “But one thing I’m really trying to stay away from is declaring, ‘This is what’s wrong with today.’”

The liberal media has largely blasted Evans for trying to create a bipartisan news source, with the Columbia Journalism Review publishing an article stating that, “Fixing partisanship with partisan chit-chat is a bit like trying to cure diabetes with Skittles.”

While the idea of a bipartisan news site is a nice thought, it’s naive to believe that Evans is actually out to create something that doesn’t heavily favor the Left. Before putting his name behind this news site, Evans might have wanted to think twice about posting his offensive, hateful rants against President Trump and his fellow Republicans.

Evans has already lost the trust of conservatives with his prior behavior, and he has now alienated liberals with his efforts to create a website that does not favor a left-wing narrative. This has effectively left Evans with nobody to read his website, so don’t be surprised if his new project ends up dead in the water before it can even launch.
