Strong Trump ally and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 55, who is suffering from coronavirus has been moved to an intensive care ward because of worsening symptoms. He has not required ventilation.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will take over until Johnson recovers.

If the worse were to happen it would recall the loss of Wolfe at Quebec and Nelson at Trafalgar, a gallant British leader cut down while leading Britain to victory in a fight against a daunting foe.

It would also be a tragedy for the U.S., as Johnson is a firm U.S. ally and personal friend of President Trump. Johnson led his nation as mayor of London, Foreign Secretary, a chief supporter of Brexit, and now leads it as Prime Minister.

With the U.K. navigating through the negotiations of leaving the European Union, a loss of Johnson or his being sidelined for any considerable period could do damage to the position of the U.K. in relation to issues outstanding with the E.U. It would also hamper efforts to fight the virus.
