If you saw the last mic drop question at Thursday’s coronavirus briefing, and have been for years frustrated at the media’s dishonesty in regards to the president, then you had to almost stand up and cheer at this presidential exchange with a friendly reporter.
The highly telegenic and alluringly-named Chanel Rion of conservative news outlet One America News Network (OANN) asked the president, “Do you consider the term ‘Chinese food’ racist because it’s food that originates in China or it has Chinese roots?”
Score for her, as by that clever line she eviscerated press colleagues in the room who have been pathetically trying to nail the president as a racist because he accurately says the coronavirus began in China. Of course, we at LifeZette asked the same thing days ago about French toast and Belgian waffles. But then, we tend to be ahead of the curve here.

You could see her fellow journos stiffen up and sneer at her question. You could feel left-wing Twitter trolls, outraged she had made their press allies look so foolish, get ready to pounce on her with a fury that sunders any pretense they may have had to feminism. I guess to them, this is one woman who should never be believed.
The president responded, “I don’t think it’s racist at all.” Rion pressed her assault, “On that note, major left-wing news media —even in this room— have teamed up with Chinese Communist Party narratives and they’re claiming you’re racist for making these claims about ‘Chinese virus.’ Is it alarming that major media players, just to oppose you, are consistently siding with foreign state propaganda, Islamic radicals and Latin gangs and cartels? And they work right here at the White House with direct access to you and your team?”
In response, Trump turned the tables on his mainstream media enemies, using the OANN-provided collusion narrative against them. It was satisfying indeed to those of us who had to sit through years of false charges of collusion with Russia being hurled at the president from, as Rion pointed out, some in that very room.
Though, we must admit, there is one aspect of her questions that LifeZette furiously objects to. And that is, that we weren’t the one to ask them.
