Trump lashes out at Obama—blames him for slow response to coronavirus in U.S.

Liberals will undoubtedly find a reason to complain about this, as they become "triggered" whenever Trump reverses anything that Obama did.

President Donald Trump lashed out at Barack Obama today, blaming him for the United States’ slow start to begin COVID-19 coronavirus testing.

After receiving criticism for the slow American testing rollout in comparison to other countries, Trump blamed an Obama-era rule for this, saying that it was up to him to fix the issue so that testing could begin.

“That was a very big move,” Trump said as he met with airline executives at the White House on Wednesday, according to the New York Post. “It was something we had to do and we did it very quickly. And now we have tremendous flexibility, many many more sites, many many more people, and you couldn’t have had that under the Obama rule and we ended that rule very quickly.”

Vice President Mike Pence, who is leading the Trump administration’s response effort to the coronavirus, and Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, agreed with the president’s statement.

“The last administration asserted FDA jurisdiction over testing, and the development of tests like this,” Pence explained. “The president changed that on Saturday…states now have the ability to actually conduct the coronavirus test in state labs, university laboratories, and that’s because of the change the president authorized.”

“In the past, we used to be able to have laboratories that could develop what we call laboratory-developed tests and then be able to apply them for clinical purposes,” Redford added. “And in the previous administration that became regulated, so that now for someone to do that, they had to formally file with the FDA. And what the president’s decision did was allow that regulatory relief now and those university labs and those other labs in the country now can be fully engaged in developing laboratory diagnostics for the clinical arena.”

FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn spoke out on Monday to say that by the end of the week, “close to 1 million tests will be able to be performed.”

Liberals will undoubtedly find a reason to complain about this, as they become “triggered” whenever Trump reverses anything that Obama did. However, we’re glad to see that Trump is unafraid to step up and do whatever is necessary to protect Americans from the coronavirus spreading any further.
