President Donald Trump spoke out on Friday to blame Barack Obama for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) slow testing process for the coronavirus, arguing that it was the former president’s fault.

“For decades the @CDCgov looked at, and studied, its testing system, but did nothing about it,” Trump tweeted. “It would always be inadequate and slow for a large scale pandemic, but a pandemic would never happen, they hoped. President Obama made changes that only complicated things further.”

“Their response to H1N1 Swine Flu was a full scale disaster, with thousands dying, and nothing meaningful done to fix the testing problem, until now,” Trump continued. “The changes have been made and testing will soon happen on a very large scale basis. All Red Tape has been cut, ready to go!”

This comes after the CDC’s testing process was widely criticized for being slow after they decided to use their own test rather than the World Health Organization’s test kit. This slowed everything down, and to make matters worse, the CDC did not end up always being effective, according to The Hill.

“We’re weeks behind because we had this problem,” Scott Becker, chief executive officer of the Association of Public Health Laboratories, told ProPublica at the end of last month “We’re usually up-front and center and ready.”

This is not the first time Trump has called out Obama for his handling of the H1N1 outbreak. Earlier this month, he told Fox News host Sean Hannity that the Obama White House “didn’t do anything about it.”

While blaming Obama may seem counterproductive to some, we can certainly understand Trump’s frustrations given the fact that the leftist media is blaming this entire pandemic on him when much of it has been beyond his control. Perhaps if the Left wants Trump to stop blaming their beloved Obama, they should cut him a little slack and stop saying that everything is the current president’s fault.
