First Daughter Tiffany Trump has found herself the target of an online mob after claiming that the nation’s lock-down, in response to the coronavirus pandemic, should be over in a week.

Earlier today President Trump retweeted Tiffany’s claim that the nation has “eight days to slow the spread” of coronavirus. The retweet came as the president is receiving harsh criticism for suggesting that the current lock-down could be lifted as soon as Easter.

Tiffany shared an image from the CDC which shows ’15 days’ crossed out and replaced with ‘8’, despite health experts warning that it could be a matter of months before social distancing measures can safely be lifted.

President Trump yesterday said that he will reconsider the nation’s social distancing policy within a matter of days, and America would be open for business ‘very soon’.

The US coronavirus death toll surpassed 500 on Monday as the total number of cases went past 43,000 and fifteen states went into various forms of lock-down. [Daily Mail]

The reaction to Tiffany’s tweet —and Trump’s decision to re-tweet it— was harsh and swift.
