MSNBC’s Joy Reid joins others in slamming Pelosi over abortion funding in coronavirus bill

Nancy Pelosi tried to sneak her way around the Hyde Amendment. She got caught.

Under the broken-clock-is-right-twice-a-day category: MSNBC’s Joy Reid, who consistently attacks the president, defends the Left and the Democrats, and otherwise makes a public fool of herself, somehow got logic and common sense Thursday and wondered why Nancy Pelosi was trying to sneak abortion measures into the coronavirus bill being negotiated between Congress and the White House.

She was the leader in a pack.

“Wow… @kasie just reported that Republicans’ objections to the House Democrats’ emergency coronavirus bill include issues related to abortion. What does that have to do with COVID19…?” said Reid.

And then the stampede was on.

“One was a mandate for up to $1 billion to reimburse laboratory claims, which White House officials say would set a precedent of health spending without protections outlined in the Hyde Amendment,” Daily Caller senior White House correspondent Christian Datoc piled on.

Not to be left out of the fun…

“This pretty much sums everything up: @realDonaldTrump is moving quickly to protect Americans from coronavirus and its economic impact… Democrats are spending their time trying to create an abortion slush fund!” Don Trump Jr. added.

And to back up the pack.

“Pelosi wanted to sneak in a billion dollars in funding for abortion programs through the coronavirus stimulus package. Don’t ever tell me the Democrats aren’t politicizing this situation,” Human Events managing editor Ian Miles Cheong said.

Bingo, lady and gentlemen.

Pelosi figured the White House would cave because the president does not want to be held culpable for holding up virus funding and the public won’t get that actually he’s not the culprit. If he does cave she gets a way around the pro-life Hyde Amendment that prohibits public funds spent on abortion. If he holds out he is, so she would say, killing Americans. She was counting on Republican cowardice.

But her little drama didn’t work out as the GOP members of the House, the GOP Senate, and the White House held firm…and Nancy took another hit out of many as of late.

Let’s hope she takes a bigger one and loses the Speaker’s gavel in November.
