When billionaire Mark Cuban, who stars on “Shark Tank” and owns the Dallas Mavericks basketball organization, appeared on the ABC talk show “The View” on Wednesday morning, the liberal co-hosts tried to get him to bash President Donald Trump over his coronavirus response. He refused to submit to their desires.

Co-host Sunny Hostin got things started by asking Cuban about Trump’s leadership during this pandemic, bringing up allegations that the president’s response has “cost lives.”

“You know, I’m not a fan of President Trump’s, but I’m not going to rip on him either because any senator could have stood up and said something and screamed loud, any congressperson could have, nobody did,” Cuban said. “And so, I didn’t have high expectations for President Trump but I’m not going to throw him under the bus. I think it was a failure of leadership across the entire political spectrum.”

Hostin then brought up Trump’s high approval rating, asking if liberal Americans like herself are underestimating the way most Americans view his handling of the pandemic. She clearly was hoping that Cuban would use her question to attack Trump. But once again, he refused to take the bait.

“No, I mean, look,” Cuban replied, “He’s doing the best he can. Here’s what I’ll say, and again, I’m not a fan of his but what’s real is real. When you have imperfect information, you make imperfect decisions. We’re not in a ready, aim, fire mode. We’re in a ready, fire, aim mode — and that makes it tough. And so, no matter what he did, it’s going to be wrong for some people.”

He added that though Trump has gone “off on tangents,” the pandemic might also be the first time “we’ve seen him actually defer to experts at some level.”

Clearly disappointed that Cuban had ruined her Trump-bashing party, Hostin later asked about Trump criticizing New York Governor Andrew Cuomo during the pandemic. “Is this how Trump should be spending his time? Criticizing the governor of one of the hardest-hit states?” Hostin asked.

“No, I mean, obviously not,” Cuban said, going on to say that while there is “no good reason” for the criticism, the country is in an unprecedented situation. “I’m not going to just stand around tearing [Trump] apart,” he concluded.

Cuban is showing once again that he is a class act who has a good head on his shoulders. The reality is that we were in a situation that nobody saw coming, and a Democratic president would have been just as blindsided by it as Trump was. Like the rest of the media, the women of “The View” spend their days bashing Trump regardless of what he has done, so he never would have been able to win them over with any response he gave to coronavirus.

Cuban realizes that the constant attacks on Trump are the last thing that Americans need right now, as the one thing our country needs is unity. We applaud him for taking the high road and refusing to sink down to the level of Hostin and her co-hosts on “The View.”
