CNN‘s Don Lemon said Monday night that the press should not air the president’s daily virus briefing.

“I have said I don’t think that you should really listen to what he says, you should listen to what the experts say. I’m not actually sure, if you want to be honest, that we should carry that live. I think we should run snippets. I think we should do it afterwards and get the pertinent points to the American people because he’s never, ever going to tell you the truth.”

Earlier in the month MSNBC‘s Rachel Maddow said the same thing.

“If it were up to me, and it’s not, I would stop putting those briefings on live TV. Not out of spite but because it’s misinformation. If the president does end up saying anything true, you can run it as tape but if he keeps lying like this every day on stuff this important, all of us should stop broadcasting it. Honestly, it’s gonna cost lives.”

Notice a pattern here?

Yup, the full court press is on because those press briefings are clicking with the American people. It’s especially effective when the president hits the media.

The mainstream media sees that, sees the president’s rising poll numbers, and are scared to death. They also see Biden’s sinking fortunes and rightly conclude that Trump gets stronger every day and his chances for reelection, always good, are now becoming very good. So, they want to do all they can to hurt him and arrest that trend.

Which is interesting, because a lot of DC Democrats LifeZette has talked to are already consigning Biden to the dustbin and looking at 2024. They know that America rallies around a competent leader in time of crisis, after eight years of one party in the White House voters usually like a change of pace, and it’s a lot easier to attack than defend.

So they think: let the GOP have this crisis and its attendant headaches. We’ll get into the Oval Office after they have dealt with the virus and all is smooth sailing again.

Actually, a pretty smart political strategy.
