Trump’s education secretary Betsy DeVos slams AOC for her hypocrisy over choosing school for her goddaughter

"Good for me, but not for thee."

Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos just spoke out to slam Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) after it was revealed that just three years ago, she had boasted about getting her goddaughter into a charter school, an institution that she claims to be very much against.

It all started when the New York Post came upon a 2017 Facebook Live video in which Ocasio-Cortez boasted, “This area’s like a lot of where my family is from. My goddaughter, I got her into a charter school like maybe a block or two down.”

The Post opened their story on the video with the line “Good for me, but not for thee,” referring to the fact that Ocasio-Cortez is against charter schools and does not feel that they should exist. The story pointed out that “embracing charters would be a big no-no for Ocasio-Cortez’s Democratic social base, which calls for the total abolition of charters, arguing that their existence hurts traditional public schools.”

DeVos took to Twitter to share the story with her followers.

“How nice that @AOC claims to have helped her goddaughter get into a public charter school,” she wrote alongside it. “It’s a shame she works to deny that opportunity to every other disadvantaged family in America. ‘Good for me, but not for thee,’ indeed. #EducationReform.”

While Democrats want everyone to go to public school, DeVos and President Donald Trump want parents to have options when it comes to their child’s education. In an interview with Fox News last week, DeVos explained that she thinks families whose children are trapped in failing government schools should be able to send them somewhere else for their education.

“I do know there are over one million families on wait lists for charters schools,” DeVos said. “I imagine there is close to that number who would opt to do something different if they had the opportunity.”

It’s ironic that Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow Democrats are constantly talking about being “pro-choice” when it comes to reproductive rights, but they are decidedly against any kind of “choice” when it comes to the education of children. That’s because they want to be able to indoctrinate the minds of the next generation by sending them all through government-run schools that give them the kind of radically left-wing education that Ocasio-Cortez and her cronies want them to have.

We’re glad to have a president who is “pro-choice” when it comes to education, like Trump is. Clearly, Ocasio-Cortez wants to have choices when it comes to her own family’s education, she just doesn’t want anyone else to have this luxury.

“Good for me, but not for thee,” indeed.
