President Donald Trump took to Twitter to slam 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg on Tuesday afternoon, calling him the demeaning nickname “Mini Mike” and accusing him of trying to buy the presidential nomination.

Bloomberg is a billionaire from New York who has been gaining traction in the race over the past few weeks, and it was revealed today that he has qualified for tomorrow night’s Democratic debate.

He has said that he is willing to spend an unprecedented $1 billion on his campaign, according to Fox News, and this combined with his strategy of focusing on gathering delegates in larger states while skipping the first four early-voting states has led to many on both sides accusing him of trying to buy the nomination.

Trump harped on this today on social media, calling Bloomberg out in front of the entire country.

“What Mini Mike is doing is nothing less than a large scale illegal campaign contribution. He is ‘spreading’ money all over the place, only to have recipients of his cash payments, many former opponents, happily joining or supporting his campaign. Isn’t that called a payoff?” Trump tweeted today. “Mini is illegally buying the Democrat Nomination. They are taking it away from Bernie again. Mini Mike, Major Party Nominations are not for sale! Good luck in the debate tomorrow night and remember, no standing on boxes!”

Trump has given Bloomberg the nickname of “Mini Mike” in reference to the former New York City mayor’s height of just 5 feet, 8 inches.

This comes as controversy is brewing over Bloomberg being included in tomorrow’s debate, as the Democratic National Committee has been accused of relaxing one of their criteria to let him in. The rule in question requires a candidate to have a certain number of donors in order to take part in the debate.

Trump has hit the nail on the head once again, not only by calling the short Bloomberg “Mini Mike,” but also by calling him out for trying to buy this nomination, which is exactly what he is doing. We can only hope that American voters on both sides see right through Bloomberg and his corruption, and send him back to New York where he belongs.
