Former NFL star Tim Tebow just showed once again what a kind and generous person he really is when he kicked off the sixth annual Night to Shine for people with special needs this week with his wife, former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters.

Around 215,000 volunteers came together to plan the celebrations, which were hosted by more than 720 churches in the United States and in over 30 countries, according to Breitbart News.

“We have decided to go out of our way to make the biggest, the most special night of the year for people with special needs because they’re worth it and they’re special,” explained Tebow, who is known for being a proud Christian.

The athlete took to Twitter on Friday to post a compilation of all of the celebrations.

“I want you to know that tonight is all about you. The red carpet, the balloons, the celebration — it is just for you,” Tebow said in the video. “It is because we love you. It is because you matter. It is because you are special, and there is a great purpose for your life. For every single one of you, we are naming you the king or the queen of the prom.”

The Waterfront Church DC tweeted out photos of their event, and the prom attendees appeared to be having a great time.

Hilliard Police Department Officer Doug Lightfoot posted a photo of himself with a prom queen, writing that it was an “honor” to attend the celebration.

Do you think people should be more bold with their faith?

The Daytona Beach Fire Department in Florida tweeted out photos of their firefighters escorting Night to Shine attendees to the event.

“The Christian faith is about loving Jesus and loving people, and that is what we are trying to do with this foundation and all of our outreaches,” the Tim Tebow Foundation’s website states. The Foundation went on to say that it’s mission is to “bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.”

It’s so refreshing to see an athlete like Tebow using his platform to help others and spread the word of God. We need more people like Tim Tebow in the world!
