A new report reveals that the U.S. leads the world in the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, contrary to the narrative pushed by environmental activists.

“The Largest Decline in Energy-Related Carbon Emissions”

The International Energy Agency (IEA) released their report on Tuesday detailing the global release of carbon emissions in 2019, noting that the U.S. was hitting its climate targets.

“The United States saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis – a fall of 140 Mt, or 2.9%, to 4.8 Gt,” the IEA wrote:

US emissions are now down almost 1 Gt from their peak in the year 2000, the largest absolute decline by any country over that period. A 15% reduction in the use of coal for power generation underpinned the decline in overall US emissions in 2019. Coal-fired power plants faced even stronger competition from natural gas-fired generation, with benchmark gas prices an average of 45% lower than 2018 levels. As a result, gas increased its share in electricity generation to a record high of 37%. Overall electricity demand declined because demand for air-conditioning and heating was lower as a result of milder summer and winter weather.

The news comes as the U.S. economy under President Trump is booming, and stands in stark contrast to the performance to other parts of the world. Despite “80% of the increase [in carbon emissions in 2019] coming from Asia,” they could not match the success of the United States. “In China, emissions rose but were tempered by slower economic growth and higher output from low-carbon sources of electricity,” the report continued.

Why isn’t Greta Celebrating?

Senator Ted Cruz, a strong supporter of the President, was quick to point out the success on Twitter.

“FACT you will NEVER see on the 6 o’clock news: U.S. emissions FELL 2.9%, or by 140 million tons, continuing the trend of the United States LEADING THE WORLD IN TOTAL EMISSIONS DECLINE since 2000,” the Texas senator wrote.

This news flies in the face of the narrative pushed by environmental activists like Greta Thunberg, who constantly blame the West for causing the environment to decline, badgering us to embrace socialism to fix the problems.

You would think this would be a wake-up call for little Greta and her minions to start focusing on communist China, who are undoubtedly polluting the planet even if you do not think anthropogenic climate change is a concern. But, of course, we will not see them pat President Trump on the back for reducing carbon emissions, because it was never about the environment, but pushing a totalitarian regime on us free citizens.
