With a city reputation for alternate lifestyles, two mayors of San Francisco have come clean on mundane conventional romantic adventures. One, a past mayor, only confirmed what was already widely suspected and snickered about. The other, the current mayor, is in hot water over hers.

It is no great epiphany to learn that past San Fran mayor Democrat Willie Brown had an extramarital relationship with present U.S. Senator and past presidential candidate Kamala Harris of California. Brown is thirty years her senior.

“We dated. It was more than twenty years ago,” very recently said Brown. He was married at the time. But the comely Harris apparently did not find that an obstacle to dating.

“Yes, I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was Assembly speaker,” said Brown, also commenting that he helped other area politicians as well. “The difference is that Harris is the only one who, after I helped her, sent word that I would be indicted if I ‘so much as jaywalked’ while she was D.A. That’s politics for you.”

Upon hearing that Harris responded, “His career is over; I will be alive and kicking for the next 40 years. I do not owe him a thing,” she told a local magazine, vowing, “If there is corruption, it will be prosecuted.”

Mee-oww.

The current mayor’s travails are not nearly as fun.

San Fran Democrat Mayor London Breed also dated a guy twenty years ago. After they broke up they stayed friends. Breed was first elected mayor in 2018. She then borrowed over $5,000 from him in 2019 for a car repair. She hasn’t paid him back yet. A relatively small loan between pals. So, no big deal, right?

Yup, except that past paramour Mohammed Nuru is a former director of city public works who is now under indictment for corruption. She talked about the intimate relationship Friday and said she was never asked to do anything improper for the loan. Though some wonder why the mayor of one of America’s biggest cities, and certainly one of its richest cities, could not afford a car repair.

No matter the details, other city officials want her scalp. City Supervisor Gordon Mar had this to say, “”Mayor Breed’s admission of thousands of dollars in unreported gifts from a subordinate is likely illegal, certainly unethical, and part of a culture of casual corruption that is eroding the faith of the public…I believe Mayor Breed should do the right thing and temporarily step back from her duties until a full, independent investigation can be completed.”

Gee, I wonder what job Gordon sees himself in soon, eh?
