Boy Scouts of America go PC, go bankrupt

This is what happens when you bow to the gods of the left.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have been around 110 years. For most of that time they stood for truth, justice, and the American Way. Reaching Eagle Scout was considered a notable achievement for such men as President Gerald Ford and actor and USAF Brigadier General Jimmy Stewart.

I was a Boy Scout when was a kid. Never made it past Tenderfoot because I hated camping. Less than ten years later, during my years with the First Infantry Division, I hated it even more.

But around that time, the late 80s, the PC bacillus started to infect the Boy Scouts. There was talk of dropping time honored traditions and standards. Talk turned to action. Women were let in the Scouts, making them no longer a boy’s organization. Other policies were made that changed the very nature of the scouting experience. Some of that PC bowing and scraping let predators in the door.

Ergo…”You’re talking about thousands of perpetrators,” lawyer Michael Pfau, who represents over 300 Scout victims in 34 states, told the New York Daily News. “You’re talking about tens of thousands of victims. This will be the largest bankruptcy the country has ever seen, and likely one of the largest corporate bankruptcies.”

Such are the wages of leftism. The Scouts tried to feebly, immersed in treacle, spin their way out.

“The BSA cares deeply about all victims of abuse and sincerely apologizes to anyone who was harmed during their time in Scouting. We are outraged that there have been times when individuals took advantage of our programs to harm innocent children,” said Roger Mosby, president and chief executive officer of the BSA.

He was on a roll of cloying sentimentality. Mosby continued.

“While we know nothing can undo the tragic abuse that victims suffered, we believe the Chapter 11 process – with the proposed Trust structure – will provide equitable compensation to all victims while maintaining the BSA’s important mission,” he added.

Really?

If this scandal is as big as it seems, who would join? What boy wants to get a merit badge for Transgender Earth Studies? Who wants to camp with scout masters who have, in hundreds of situations, been proven less than trustworthy?

It’s all very sad. And very expected, when you jettison tradition for the ravages of the PC mindset.
