It has just been revealed that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) spent more on private jet travel than any other 2020 Democratic presidential candidate in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The socialist senator who is a proud supporter of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal, which aims to fight climate change, spent around $1.2 million on flying a private plane, according to the Washington Free Beacon. This makes him look extremely hypocritical, as Sanders is known for being a climate alarmist who frequently warns others about the damage of CO2 emissions from airplanes.

“The scientific community is telling us in no uncertain terms that we have less than 11 years left to transform our energy system away from fossil fuels to energy efficiency and sustainable energy, if we are going to leave this planet healthy and habitable for ourselves, our children, grandchildren, and future generations,” Sanders’ own website states.

“This is the problem of presenting your purity above your practicality,” explained Democratic strategist Chris Lippincott, according to the New York Times. “When we think about certain candidates who talk a lot about the environment … you’re going to hold them to a different standard.”

Sanders’ campaign responded to this revelation by saying that they compensate for the damage to the environment his private jet travel causes by buying carbon offsets, which The Blaze describes as “donations to environmental groups that are working to reduce carbon emissions in other ways.”

Former Vice President Joe Biden spent the second most on private jet travel, paying just over $1 million for it. As for the other candidates, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), spent $720,518; former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg spent roughly $646,000; and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg spent $323,518.

This perfectly sums up how hypocritical Sanders and his fellow Democrats are. Sanders thinks he can tell the rest of us how to live our lives when it comes to the environment, but when it comes to his own life, he thinks he can do whatever he wants. Shame on you, Bernie Sanders, and shame on anyone who supports him.
