What if we could give a gift of hope to someone — which would then give that person the ability to never again experience crushing disappointment?

When I say “crushing disappointment,” I don’t mean a temporary letdown.

I mean an experience so debilitating it strikes at the heart of our very identity and permanently derails us from life as God intended.

Ironically, the only hope that never causes us crushing disappointment is the one that we, as humans, seem to constantly avoid.

We often run from our best source of hope. It’s called “living hope.”

The Bible says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3).

When Christ rose from the dead, He conquered the greatest destroyer of hope: death.

Hope in God is bulletproof.

When God is our greatest hope for fulfilling the desires of our heart, we are never crushed by disappointment because He never fails.

Yet our tendency is to run straight into the open arms of disappointment.

We do this by settling our greatest goals and ambitions in things and people that will eventually fail us — instead of what Christ has already guaranteed for us.

We can change this.

How?

When we make Christ so dear to us that He is at the center of every goal, then His divine wisdom, love, and power give us a satisfying and successful life.

Success in Christ is guaranteed because He conquered man’s greatest enemy: death.

No one else we know has had that radical degree of success!

When God is the most integral part of our lives, He is inextricably woven into the fabric of our lives — and He pours out of everything we do and say.

Our life becomes a motion picture of living hope to a world full of wretchedly disappointed people.
