Hillary Clinton has become the first woman in history to be appointed chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland.

The former secretary of State was named to the position on Thursday, in what’s being defined as a “largely ceremonial role.”

In other ceremonial roles, Clinton received an honorary degree from Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) and — in her mind — actually won the election in 2016.

All of these things are equally significant in the grand scheme of things.

“Secretary Clinton has made a considerable contribution to Northern Ireland and as an internationally recognized leader will be an incredible advocate for Queen’s and an inspirational role model for the Queen’s community,” Stephen Prenter, chair of the QUB’s governing body, told the BBC.

We’re wondering: Is Queen’s looking for the type of role model who perpetually lies or evades prosecution by wiping out her computers?

If so, then, by golly — they’ve got their woman.

The BBC reports that Mrs. Clinton “will serve for a period of five years.”

That’s not exactly the kind of time served most Americans were hoping for, as we see it — but if it keeps her out of the 2020 election, more power to her.

It is, after all, a significant step up from pretending to be president (a daily task), signing books in the dairy section of the local Costco, or hawking shoes for Katy Perry.

Clinton said the honor bestowed upon her is a “great privilege” and that she is proud to serve.

“It’s my great privilege to become [Queen’s University Belfast’s] 11th — and first female — chancellor,” she tweeted. “It’s a place I have great fondness for and have grown a strong relationship with over the years, and I’m proud to be an ambassador for its excellence.”

Hey, the more time she promotes “excellence” in Ireland, the less time she’ll be spending interjecting her opinions here in America, in our opinion. Thank you, Queen’s University!

This news, though ceremonial, seems to indicate an end to the rumors that Hillary may be planning to step into the 2020 presidential race.

Clinton has frequently hinted she’s been thinking about the possibility of humiliating herself one last time.

Hilary claimed that she’s “been deluged” by supporters urging her to join the crowded Democrat field seeking to oust President Donald Trump.

Last October, she told a crowd of adoring fans that she’d “like to be president.”

“Maybe there does need to be a re-match,” Clinton later said during a PBS interview. “I mean, obviously I can beat him again.”

Well, sure, we don’t envision President Trump being named chancellor of a university any time soon — but that’s probably not what she had in mind.
