Since 1983, when a day honoring slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was made a national holiday, this day has been an occasion for cringeworthy editorials from the Left.
They criticize America, Trump, and of course conservatives, for the alleged continued oppression of black citizens and hold up an unrealistic racial utopia as the national goal.
This ensures the goal will never be met and thus their main goal of further whiny editorials is achieved.
And while it is wonderful to have a day to honor Dr. King, it is somewhat ironic that a day honoring a man who preached racial harmony, who said in his most famous speech that he dreamed of a day when people would be judged on their character, not the color of their skin, is filled with such vitriol.
But, be that as it may, African Americans are doing better than before on this January day thanks to the work of both Democrats and Republicans over the decades. That fact doesn’t make people like “The Squad” happy at all, though.
I don’t have to recount the employment numbers to this audience. For black Americans, employment numbers are at historic highs.
Far from fuzzy leftist notions of racial justice, jobs and all the dignity and self-reliance that come with them, are the best way to bring about racial equality in this nation.
Those jobs, and the decades-long change in the attitude of some Americans from racism to fairness, are part and parcel of the bigger advancement for black Americans: They are starting to realize the malevolent part the Democratic Party has played in their lives for close to two centuries.
The late stages of slavery, Jim Crow, the Klan, the racist south, all Dem creations. When it suited them, the Democrats transformed their blatant bigotry to the worse harm of encouraging a culture of racism.
Today we can see that malevolence in the racism of AOC and her “Squad”, who make sure to fan the fires of racial enmity to advance their own socialistic goals.
They and the Klu Klux Klan, two sides of the same coin, both national socialists.
But blacks are waking up, as the president’s rising poll numbers in the black community showcase.
If the Dem stranglehold on their support can be broken, then one day Dr. King’s dream for all Americans will be that much closer to becoming a reality.
