It’s rare both major parties in DC agree to anything these days.

But in the fashion of a bygone era and hands across the ideological ocean, LifeZette spoke Friday to both Dem and GOP Hill rats (staffers) and they all agree that Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) has really bad timing.

Today, very amusingly so.

You see, Smith said this early Thursday on CNN, “I think it is time to send the impeachment to the Senate and let Mitch McConnell be responsible for the fairness of the trial. He ultimately is.”

But then he thought better or, more likely, got serious pressure to get back on the current, as of Thursday, Dem message.

He caved and changed tune within hours, “I misspoke this morning. I do believe we should do everything we can to force the Senate to have a fair trial. If the Speaker believes that holding on to the articles for a longer time will help force a fair trial in the Senate, then I wholeheartedly support that decision.”

The president’s son was all over it.

“Hahahaha someones not allowed to think for himself and got in trouble for breaking with Nancy’s narrative,” Donald Trump Jr. chortled on Twitter. “This has been the problem with the sham impeachment from day one, no one actually believes this BS except for the lunatic fringe who have hijacked the whole Democratic party.”

Smith also took serious heat online Thursday for the obvious cowardly surrender.

That was yesterday. Friday, without yesterday telling him she was about to submarine him, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) made him look like not only an idiot, but a complete fool when she herself folded to GOP Senate Majority Leader McConnell.

If only Smith had shown some guts and stayed true to his gutsy original statement he would have been ahead of the game.

Instead, he looks double the cretin and is sold out, a simple phone call could have warned him off of his change in message, by his own party.

Can you imagine the conversation in Pelosi’s office when they decided to give in to the GOP on the senate trial?

“Okay Madame Speaker, we’re set. Oh, Smith of Washington came around.”

“After he went against us?”

“Yes ma’am.”

“Well gee, what should we do with him?”

(Unintelligible mass laughter and nodding of heads).

This too will pass for Smith. Perhaps he’ll even learn a political lesson: You want to trust someone in DC? Get a dog.
