CNN reporter Donie O’Sullivan has little patience when jokes are directed at the Left.

O’Sullivan is upset at the generally conservative satirical website The Babylon Bee.

He specifically references the popularity of a Bee story, no doubt that many readers of this site have seen, that claimed Democrats wanted U.S. flags to be flown at half-mast over the death of Iranian terrorist kingpin Qassem Soleimani.

O’Sullivan tweeted, “To put this in perspective, this is the same number of engagements the top NY Times and CNN stories on Facebook had over the past week.”

Now, that’s funny. Even Snopes weighed in! Though this isn’t the first time Snopes investigated the Bee. Last year, Jenna Ellis, Senior Legal Advisor to President Trump, told Disrn that Snopes called the White House after Trump retweeted a Bee article. Disrn, a legitimate news outlet, was started by The Babylon Bee’s founder, Adam Ford.

O’Sullivan is also not chuffed that some didn’t realize the Bee story was a parody and took it for fact. Admittedly, when this writer posted the satire on social media accounts there were those who did not understand it was a joke. But why?

Granted, there are some naive folks on the conservative side who, bless their hearts, may take things a tad too literally at times. They contrast well with the vicious and gullible on the left who will believe anything, no matter how outrageous, as long as it fits an anti-American or anti-Trump plotline.

But the main reason a satirical story on the Dems had some credibility is that it was founded in only a minor exaggeration of fact. There were and are Dems that criticized the strike and seemed to mourn for the now charred hulk of the Iranian terror maven. So it wasn’t too far afield to go one step further and have people see the joke as reality.

Is it hard to tell satire from real news these days?

Conservatives were quick to join in the fun, “You guys should definitely keep focusing your energy on Babylon Bee and people sharing a joke article is in no way a reflection of the garbage state of your profession,” tweeted conservative commentator Stephen Miller.

If the mirthless Bolshie gnomes at CNN were ever to gain a sliver of a sense of humor then there is a minor chance they would see the humor in sites like The Babylon Bee and perhaps smile past their continual malignant grimaces.

However, for that eventuality…I wouldn’t hold your breath.
