As the year of 2019 rapidly draws to a close, there’s quite a bit of political carnage to be seen — and a choice number of candidates for the dubious distinction of “biggest losers” of the year.

Some of their failures may have been due to bad planning, poor analysis, sloppy follow-through — or things far more notorious than that.

But the biggest reason these individuals failed in their stated goals for 2019 is an old one: They preferred politically driven cheerleading to clear and reasoned thinking.

They indulged in confirmation bias.

It wasn’t easy to boil this list down to seven.

But here they are, the seven top failures of the year.

Read this over and tell us what you think!

1.) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). She had what many viewed as a winning hand for her side — taking back the House of Representatives in 2018. Now, less than a year later, she is saddled with a far-Left impeachment crusade against President Donald Trump that she is destined to lose in the Senate.

2.) Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.). The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee went from a relatively unknown back bencher of sorts to a national laughingstock. In this analyst’s mind, a clearer case of the Peter Principle — that individuals rise to their level of incompetence — has never been seen.

3.) The “Never Trump” crowd. From the economy to GOP internal polling numbers, the president of the United States is riding high. So malcontents such as Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and newly minted Never Trumper John Bolton have nothing but political pain to look forward to in a likely Trump re-election.

4.) Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.). As a telegenic minority female from a solid Democratic state — and sporting a law enforcement background — Harris seemed to have it all for the Dems. But it “all” vanished. She had a minor boomlet when she bested former Vice President Joe Biden in the first Democrat debate of the primary season, in late June of this year.

But she slid after that, until Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) administered the televised coup de grace at a November debate.

5.) Rep. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). The Senate minority leader is like that team that always played the Harlem Globetrotters and was never allowed to win. And it’s going to get worse for him if impeachment goes to a Senate trial.

6.) The Democratic squad. These four radical leftist members of Congress — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) — have given a new definition to idiocy in the American political context. As devoid of sense as they are eager for publicity, they make many Americans wish we could raise the age of electability in Congress to at least 45.

7.) The mainstream media. The highly one-sided, anti-Trump press in this country — or most of it — has ceded any legitimacy by their biased left-wing reporting, commentary and analysis. Each and every day, they show themselves to be who they are both by their sins of commission and omission.
