When I’ve spent most of December frantically checking off my list instead of living thankful for God’s best gifts, Christmas Day can be almost anticlimactic.

The holiday cycle is reflective of the hedonistic treadmill we often jump on — not just at Christmas — but for much of our life.

When our life is focused on finding satisfaction in anything less than God, then even when the pace picks up, or the incline gets steeper — forcing us to work harder, we make no forward progress toward attaining satisfaction, no matter how hard we try.

This is not the way God planned for us to enjoy life — or Christmas.

There is a much better way to celebrate Christmas!

The pursuit of our highest satisfaction from the God who created us, instead of the things or people He created means we jump off that treadmill of dissatisfaction.

The deep joy we long for no longer eludes us.

We are on the path of peace, because we are walking with God Himself.

When we love Him more than any pleasure we seek, our life overflows with God’s presence.

The Bible says: “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” (2 Corinthians 2‬:14-15).

When Christ leads us, we are part of all the goodness He offers to mankind.

When we allow ourselves to be satisfied by God, we are transformed and become part of the true spirit of Christmas.
