While campaigning for 2020 presidential primary candidate Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in Los Angeles this past Saturday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) claimed the United States is “not an advanced society” and is turning into a fascist country.

“Establishing a loving society in the United States of America” isn’t an “irrational, overly-feeling sympathetic statement,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Instead, it’s part of an ongoing mission to achieve “an advanced society,” she argued.

Her comments were regurgitations of remarks made by Harvard University professor and fellow Sanders supporter Cornel West.

“What we are living in now is not an advanced society,” the far-Left Democrat insisted.

Then she decried the “fascism that we’re evolving into” due to Donald Trump’s presidency.

The congresswoman claimed Sanders’ campaign was “a movement that has been decades in the making” — and that it stood up for the working class and against elites.

“We can’t go back to the way things were before, because the way things were before is how we got to where we are now. We cannot go back to a world where the rich are put first and working people are put last in Washington day in and day out,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

“I go into work all the time and I hear people saying, ‘What will my donors think?’” she said, in what seemed like a barb against 2020 Democrat candidate Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana, who has faced criticism for holding an upscale fundraiser in a location in Napa Valley that his fellow White House contender Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) identified as a wine cave.

“I see that billionaires get members of Congress on speed dial and waitresses don’t, OK? There’s a difference,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Ocasio-Cortez is obviously comfortable bashing America — but since she considers the U.S. so backward, what societies does the socialist congresswoman consider “advanced”?

Venezuela?

Cuba?

Those countries are socialist.

Both Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders have defended — or deflected from tough questions — about these countries’ authoritarian regimes.

Would the average Venezuelan or Cuban citizen consider his or her countries more advanced than the United States?

These questions answer themselves.

They are obvious things Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should probably think about before she makes such foolish statements about the United States again, in our view.
