New York’s Green Light Law went into effect on Tuesday, giving illegal immigrants the right to obtain driver’s licenses in the state.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) signed the Green Light Law in June of this year.

It ended the requirement for a Social Security number to apply for a driver’s license in New York — and it allows foreign documentation to be used as proof of identity, opening up the system to massive potential fraud, in our view.
The law came into effect on December 16, after U.S. District Judge Gary Sharpe ruled to stop a second legal challenge against it.
Letitia James, New York’s attorney general, applauded Sharpe’s decision in a statement.
“We expect all public officials to comply with the law, and, as the state’s attorney and chief law enforcement officer, I will continue to vigorously defend it,” James said.
Not everyone is happy. In contrast, Erie County Clerk Michael Kearns, a Democrat, was furious with the decision.
“I’m now going to have to accept a report card from a foreign country and foreign documentation, a foreign passport as authenticated documents. I, myself, as the clerk am going to have to do that,” Kearns told “Fox & Friends.”
“So they have diminished a New York State driver’s license and we’re very concerned for our safety and security because western New York is a border to Canada.”
The Hill reported that immigrants were queuing around the block to get their hands on a New York driver’s license.

Not only can illegal immigrants drive around freely without restriction, but the Green Light Law also gives them privileges above American citizens.
When anyone from the Department of Homeland Security runs the license plates of a car registered to an illegal, they will be stopped from accessing the public records associated with the vehicle.
A spokesman for DHS said in a statement that the law “will protect criminals at the expense of the safety and security of law-abiding New York residents.”
“Besides giving driver’s licenses to hundreds of thousands of people who broke our laws and have come to our country illegally, the New York law also blocks DHS law enforcement officers who investigate crimes like child exploitation, human trafficking, terrorism, the targeting of gang members, sex offenders, and drug smuggling, from accessing important public records,” he said. “Accessing this information is vital to building out these criminal cases, identifying criminal suspects, and enhancing officer safety.
Lisa Koumjian, New York State’s DMV assistant commissioner for communications, confirmed this was the case to The Daily Caller.
“Under the Green Light Law, no DMV data of any kind can be shared with an agency that primarily enforces immigration law, which means ICE, Customs & Border Protection and Citizenship and Immigration Services do not have access to data unless the DMV is presented with a valid judge-signed court order, subpoena or judicial warrant,” she said.
This decision is yet another insane case of pro-illegal immigration policies in action.
Not only will illegal immigrants — who potentially do not have the skills to drive in America — be given driver’s licenses, but they cannot be checked upon by the authorities!
How on Earth is anyone supposed to enforce immigration law when you can’t catch those who have jumped the border?
It would not be surprising if, in the coming months, New York sees a sudden spike in car accidents, as innocent law-abiding citizens have their life or mobility taken away by someone who shouldn’t even be in the country.
