Amid the storms, pain, uncertainty and fears of life, God quiets me by His love.
It’s much like when my children would have bad dreams — and my presence, soft words, and tender caresses replaced their fear with peace.
God’s love gives me more than I am capable of giving anyone else.
The Bible says, “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).
Do you experience the love of God quieting you amid your fears, insecurities, or pain?
I was a Christian for many years without experiencing the peaceful security of His love.
Why?
It’s no big secret.
It’s the same reason the nation of Israel did as described in the Book of Zephaniah: “She [Jerusalem] listens to no voice; she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the Lord; she does not draw near to her God” (Zephaniah 3:2).

We rebel, ignore, and run from the only One who is capable of giving us the unconditional and pure love we all seek.
But when we return to Him, in His loving care for us … He turns our sorrow into joy, He deals with our oppressors, He heals our soul, He gives us confidence, He constantly amazes us by supplying all of our needs (Zephaniah 3:18-20).
If I weren’t such a high-strung person, type-A personality, I may have learned this a long time ago.
God is mercifully teaching this hard-charging, overly self-reliant girl how to use that energy to seek Him and be captivated in the wonder of who He is and what He does.
It is simply amazing.
It‘s much better than charging around at full tilt, doing things my way — and in the process, bouncing off walls, tripping over obstacles, and generally expending a lot of energy to accomplish very little.

When God is in the middle of everything, His love quiets my soul in every aspect of my life.
God teaches me how to live in peace, no matter how bad the storm.
That’s what His love does.
Our worst nightmares no longer hold us captive in fear.
Our life has divine purpose.
When we seek God with all our heart, His love quiets our soul.
