When we live in God’s wisdom, the “eyes of our heart are enlightened” and we experience God’s immeasurably great power.

It’s an amazing way to live.

Paul the Apostle knew this.

And He prayed the Ephesian church would experience it.

“I do not cease to give thanks for you,” he wrote, “remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come” (‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:16-21‬).

As God’s children, we are given His immeasurable power and wisdom.

But rather than use it, we often choose our own limited wisdom and finite power.

It’s like we’d rather walk 100 miles barefoot instead of driving the Maserati that’s parked in our garage.

This poor choice demonstrates that we don’t understand the magnitude of the gifts that we possess in Christ.

As He enlightens us, He also empowers us — and there is no doubt it is Him working through us because what we say and do exceeds anything we are capable of doing without Him.

So we find great reason to glorify Him.
