Referring to the biased Democratic impeachment process against President Donald Trump to date, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had a message for many Americans.

He tweeted out on Wednesday, “Salem witches got a better deal than this!”
Graham went on to claim that the Democrat impeachment effort lacks due process.
The GOP senator has been a staunch supporter of the president on most issues since even before the impeachment efforts began.
Here’s his series of tweets on the matter.

Graham’s aggressive new conservative stance, first evidenced at the Senate Judiciary confirmation hearings for current Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in the summer of 2018, has earned him plaudits from the Right and condemnation from the Left.

As to Graham’s historical point, social writer Elizabeth Fortunato told LifeZette, “The social climate in 16th century New England was strikingly similar. When the girls who accused certain women of being witches saw they could manipulate the town, they exploited the hysteria. Cotton Mather was the senior minister in New England during the trials. He accepted ‘spectral evidence,’ or visions of the accused doing criminal acts, as the single test of alleged satanic powers.”
“Mather was a Harvard graduate and knew that such reliance was problematic without clear empirical evidence to substantiate it. Afraid to act, Cotton advised Judge John Hawthorne to proceed with the trial in hopes of quelling the panic.”
One could suggest that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) today is playing the role of Cotton Mather. The speaker goes ahead with the hearings and the process — knowing full well the evidence is “spectral.”

She’s terrified of the price she would have to pay from the hard-Left if she demurred on impeachment.
This is similar to recent reports in a Fox News documentary that during the 1991 confirmation hearings of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, current 2020 Democratic presidential frontrunner and former Vice President Joe Biden — who was then chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee — told colleague Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) he did not believe the testimony of law professor Anita Hill.
“Biden told me personally that he didn’t believe her,” said Hatch. “‘I don’t know why she did this.’ I don’t mean to malign Joe, but Joe told me he didn’t believe her and there were some others that told me that, too.”

Hill accused Thomas of sexual harassment when they had previously worked together.
During the hearing, Biden raked Thomas over the coals regarding the charge.
Biden has denied the reports and claimed he always believed Hill.
If Pelosi is merely going through the impeachment motions to placate the radical socialist wing of her party — especially as the latest polling on impeachment and the hearings does not favor the Dems — then the recently floated trial balloon of a presidential censure, an act short of impeachment, may have more credibility than is currently supposed.
If so, that is a dangerous course for Speaker Pelosi to take.
