American citizens of all walks of life can choose the state they would like to live in, correct?

And when people leave one state for another — maybe it’s for some very good reasons, OK?

Yet when President Donald Trump, a New York native, announced on Thursday that he’s changed his permanent residence from New York to Palm Beach, Florida, a few Democrat politicians didn’t like that very much.

And rather than reflect on how they might improve their own city and state, they aimed negative comments and emotions his way.

“I cherish New York, and the people of New York, and always will, but unfortunately, despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in city, state and local taxes each year, I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state. Few have been treated worse,” the president tweeted, sharing his news with followers and with all Americans.

“I hated having to make this decision, but in the end it will be best for all concerned.”

“As president, I will always be there to help New York and the great people of New York.”

“It will always have a special place in my heart!”

Here are his tweets with his full message:

As Fox News pointed out, it was The New York Times that originally obtained the court documents showing Trump’s change of address from New York City’s Trump Tower to his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, where he’s built a residence.

First lady Melania Trump also changed her residence to the same location in an identical document.

“If I maintain another place or places of abode in some other state or states, I hereby declare that my above-described residence and abode in the State of Florida constitutes my predominant and principal home, and I intend to continue it permanently as such,” the Trump file read.

“I formerly resided at 721 Fifth Avenue,” the document also said.

Trump was raised in the borough of Queens in New York City.

He moved to Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan in 1983.

The document lists Trump’s “other places of abode” as 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue — the White House, of course — and his private golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

“While Trump said his change of residence was due to poor treatment by New York officials, some have speculated he could be doing so for tax purposes. Florida does not have a state income tax or an inheritance tax and has long been a haven for wealthy former New Yorkers,” noted Fox News.

In any event, Trump — like all Americans — is entitled to choose his state of residence for his own reasons, whatever they may be.

And yet three Democrat politicians were quick to rip into him once the news became known.

Two of them are New York Democrats who have long sparred with the president over a variety of issues.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo wrote rudely on Twitter, “Good riddance.”

“It’s not like @realDonaldTrump paid taxes here anyway.”

“He’s all yours, Florida,” he finished.

Then there was this gem from Mayor Bill de Blasio, also a Democrat — whose bid for the White House this year pretty much went nowhere.

He wrote on Twitter, “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out or whatever.”

And finally, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who’s hoping to go up against Trump in the November 2020 presidential election, had her own thoughts to share.

“Donald Trump doesn’t want the state of New York to see his taxes — I wonder why,” she wrote.

“Let’s call this out for what it is: corruption, plain and simple. Under my anti-corruption plan, all presidential candidates would be required to release their tax returns,” she concluded.

(The other Democrat primary candidates likely will be piling on as well.)

Meanwhile, the president is scheduled to spend this coming Saturday night at his Trump Tower residence.

He’s due to make an appearance this weekend at Madison Square Garden, for an MMA fight, as Fox News noted.

Before that, however, he’s holding a 2020 re-election campaign rally in Tupelo, Mississippi, on Friday night, set to begin at 7 p.m.
