Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has officially divorced her husband and the father of three children, Ahmed Hirsi, just months after reports emerged of an alleged affair with a married political consultant.

The Minnesota Democrat filed for divorce in October, citing an “irretrievable breakdown of the marriage relationship.”

(Yes, affairs with your own political consultants do tend to put a strain on the relationship, in our view.)

Just ask the man in question, Tim Mynett.

His wife filed for divorce and blew the lid off the entire relationship with Omar.

“The parties physically separated on or about April 7, 2019, when Defendant told Plaintiff that he was romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar,” the Mynett filing stated.

Now, Omar and Mynett are free to carry on their relationship in public, it would seem.

“Anyone going through a divorce is glad when it is over and this case is no exception,” a lawyer for Omar said.

Reports surfaced showing that Omar was clearly out on the town with Mynett while still married to Hirsi, but the newly minted lawmaker tried denying she was dating anyone.

WCCO, a CBS local station, asked her if she was separated from her husband or if she was dating anyone at the time — to which Omar indicated she didn’t want to talk about her “personal life.”

“No, I am not,” Omar insisted.

“I have no interest in allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it.”

Except this wasn’t just about her personal life.

The affair with Mynett was troublesome because Omar’s campaign appeared to have funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars to his consulting firm, as we understand it.

If you’re having a tough time following the details of various relationships, you’re not alone.

Omar married Hirsi in a religious but unofficial capacity in 2002.

They separated in 2008, but again, this was not legally recognized.

In 2009, she married Ahmed Elmi, whom she divorced in 2017 — only to marry Hirsi again (officially) in 2018.

And now comes the divorce and the alleged affair.

This past June, the left-leaning Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported on documents that raised questions as to whether Omar married her own brother — Elmi — as a means to “skirt immigration laws.”

Aside from possibly skirting immigration law, Omar has been the recipient of tax fraud allegations, marriage fraud allegations, immigration fraud allegations, and campaign finance violations.

In June, the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board ruled that Omar repeatedly violated campaign finance law by using campaign funds to pay for personal expenses while serving on the state legislature in 2016 and 2017.

She was ordered to personally reimburse her campaign thousands of dollars and pay a civil fine of $500.

Yet Omar consistently pretends to be on moral high ground when it comes to railing against President Donald Trump’s behavior in the White House.

Despite a laundry list of illegal activities and suspicious behavior, this congresswoman believes her political opponents despise her because they’re racists who can’t accept that she’s “one beautiful package.”
