Jim Jordan Is Moved Over to Intelligence Committee

The GOP's bulldog defender of President Donald Trump is a sharp debater, a noted questioner — and media-savvy as well

The GOP on Friday afternoon transferred Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), formerly of the House Oversight Committee and founder of the conservative GOP Freedom Caucus in the House, to the Intelligence Committee for the remainder of the Democrat impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump.

Jordan will temporarily replace Rep. Rick Crawford (R-Ark.) on the dais.

The move had been anticipated for several days.

Jordan, a bulldog defender of the president, sharp debater, and noted questioner, will go face-to-face against Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) when the hearings go public next week.

Schiff, aware of Jordan’s tenacious reputation for attention to detail and follow-through, cannot be pleased with this strategic switch by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

McCarthy told Politico, “If Democrats are going to to turn Intel into the impeachment committee, then I am going to make adjustments to that committee accordingly, for a short period of time.”

The Ohio congressman is also media savvy and has been a regular feature on many cable news shows.

His increased exposure will please the White House as Jordan has proven he can deliver a compelling defense of the president time after time.

The Democrat attack machine and its media allies wasted no time in targeting him.

But that is unlikely to stymie Jordan — who was an NCAA Division I wrestling champion in 1985 and 1986.

His reviews since he entered Congress in 2006 have been impressive.

Julian Zelizer, a professor of history and public affairs at Princeton University, said that during the Barack Obama presidency, “Jordan proved to be a master of the technical side of public policy and understood how to play the legislative game.”

He will need all that expertise and a tough-as-nails manner to withstand what is coming his way.

On Twitter and throughout social media, the onslaught has already begun. In other words, people will try to defend impeachment by defaming Jordan.

But as he has shown repeatedly in sports and in politics, he can take it and give it back in spades.

That alone qualifies him for his new slot on the current House Intel Committee.
