Nikki Haley Defends President Donald Trump — and What Are the Democrats Up to, Exactly?

Today's Monday morning briefing covers these topics and gives a nod to our veterans as well

On this Veterans Day — a day on which we honor those who wore America’s uniform — here’s what’s topping today’s news in the early morning so far — and why you need to know about it.

Former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley draws a line when two D.C. players try to involve her in anti-Trump hijinks.

What patriotic movie do you want to take your family to today? We’ve got a solid suggestion in “Midway.”

And if the Democrats know they’ll ultimately lose a Senate vote to remove President Donald Trump from power, just what more are they plotting to win in the end?

Let’s go a little deeper on these topics and more.

1.) Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly are not the president’s most ardent fans.

Should President Donald Trump be impeached?

Tillerson has made no secret of his disdain for Trump, while Kelly has been more reticent — but is also not a Team Trump player.

And when they approached Nikki Haley, former South Carolina GOP governor and former U.N. ambassador, with criticism of the president, she told them to man up and go to him instead — and that she found their behind-the-scenes skullduggery “offensive,” she told CBS News in an interview.

In defense of Trump, she also told CBS News about the idea of impeachment, “No. On what?”

Haley has a new book out, “With All Due Respect.”

2.) If you’re looking for a film that honors our military history as well as U.S. veterans, you won’t go wrong with the new offering “Midway.”

This exciting and historically accurate movie is a testament to courage, duty, and honor — and even has an angle that may affect the 2020 elections.

3.) The weekend chatter in Washington, D.C., was that some Dems are fully aware the entire impeachment exercise against the president is a loser for them.

So, then — why do it?

Two reasons.

One is generational — and the other is ideological.

LifeZette talked to a noted presidential scholar, Tim H. Blessing, professor of history and political science and a member of the Leadership Studies faculty at Alvernia University in Pennsylvania, about the feasibility of these gambits — and whether the Dems have the skill to pull them off.

This is just some of what we’ll be bringing to our readers today.
