Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) condemned the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry hearings — which begin Wednesday — as “un-American,” calling them a “threat to the presidency.”
He also said he refuses to watch the circus.
Graham spoke out on Tuesday night on “Hannity,” reiterating to Fox News host Sean Hannity his disdain for the Democrat-led impeachment of President Donald Trump.
Over the past few days, Graham categorized the hearings as a “bunch of BS,” declaring he would refuse to read any sworn testimony sent to the Senate and use the threat of the whistleblower not testifying as to his reason.
Said Graham, “What’s happening in the House is basically un-American.”
“No American, including Donald Trump, should be accused of misdeeds without confronting their accuser, which is the whistleblower, and no American should be denied the ability to tell their side of the story by calling witnesses to explain their defense. That’s being denied the president of United States.”
“So why am I not going to watch this hearing tomorrow [meaning Wednesday]?” he added.
“Because I think it is a threat to the presidency.”
“I don’t want to legitimize it. It’s un-American.”
“It denies the basics of due process.”
