One night, in my living room with several close friends and in front of a cozy fire, we witnessed the beginning of an enduring love between two people we all adored.
Quyen was being deployed at the end of the week — and in front of us all, he proposed to Louise, the love of his life.
Words cannot accurately capture the look in his eyes when he dropped to one knee, looked into her eyes, and asked for her hand.
Nor can I describe her speechless wonder as she fell into his arms with tears of joy overflowing from her big blue eyes.
What a treasured moment for all of us.
The next morning during my time with God, I was still caught in the beautiful afterglow of their love.

God stirred my heart to remember His love for me.
His Word says, “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church” (Ephesians 5:25-29).
Quyen and Louise’s love story captures the deepest desire of our heart — that is, the desire to be loved.
No one loves us like God does.
He sacrificed His body for us and His Spirit gave up the most precious relationship with His Father to walk through hell for us.

His love for us is unbreakable.
Our love for each other becomes unbreakable when we live sacrificially, as Christ did, giving His last breath for love.
The beauty of that night between two friends was a glimpse of Him, and it does our souls good to reflect upon how He nourishes and cherishes us.
When we spend time contemplating the many facets of His love for us, we become thankful and content.
His love heals us in so many ways.
