After a long, tough day, I often need to refuel my soul by reminding myself of some of God’s most personal promises.

His Word says, “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

It is exceptionally comforting to know that all the trouble of the world is no match for God — who dwells within His children.

So why don’t we always feel like conquerors?

For me, it’s because I often choose to stand alone against the world instead of standing with God against it.

I get wound up in the struggles and frustrations of the day and forget the greatest source of my strength.

The Bible says, “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might” (Ephesians 6:10).

How are we strong in the Lord?

How do we find our strength in His might?

Well, we don’t do it without Him.

His Word instructs us to “put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil” (Ephesians‬ ‭6:11).

His “armor” is, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God and the gospel of peace (Ephesians‬ ‭6:14-18‬).

Without the armor, we are completely vulnerable against the forces of evil.

God redeemed us to live as conquerors, not as vanquished.

When we study truth, exercise our faith, and keep our hearts cleaned from evil so that His Spirit is strong within us, we live much less affected by the turmoil that surrounds us.

We are not alone — and our life does not have to be limited or defined by the people, politics, money, or the sword.

God is with us and He is our all in all.
