One Saturday afternoon, when hiking with a group of children, I was impressed by the aspirations of one young lady as she explained her big dreams for her life.

She was going to be an artist and a photographer.

She was going to own a mustang, a mountain bike and an iPad.

And she was going to run track and be a cheerleader.

She had many wonderful dreams, which she confidently told me would happen.

As I listened, I thought of all the aspirations I had when I was her age.

But if anyone had told me that my life would be even better than what I dreamed, I wouldn’t have believed them.

God has taken me on a journey much greater than I ever dreamed.

Why am I surprised?

After all, His Word promises He will do more than we can imagine.

The Bible says, “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith — that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians‬ ‭3:14-21‬).

When I allow God’s power to be “at work” inside of me, then I am enabled to do “far more abundantly” than anything my mind can conceive.

He has proven this over and over again in my life with the miracles He has accomplished within me and through me.

I am constantly amazed by God.

The closer I am to Him, the more His magnificent imagination becomes my reality.

The dreams I had — of being a mom, an attorney, a singer — have become exponentially more wonderful than I ever imagined.

Why?

Because with God at the helm, they are lived “far more abundantly” than my mind ever imagined.

When God is first in our life, He gives us “God-sized dreams.“
