God’s Word gives us a powerful tool to become unburdened by the negativity of other people.

Often, when someone doesn’t return our smile, doesn’t return our call, or doesn’t respond to our text — we take it personally and allow it to plant a seed of bitterness in our heart, or even just ruin our day.

It seems silly and crazy, but we’ve all let it happen.

God reminds us in His Word that we don’t have to live this way.

He gives us a better choice — to live in love.

When we do, it frees us from negativity.

How?

Well the Bible says, “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:7‬).

Love that “hopes and endures all things” gives others the benefit of the doubt. Maybe their failure to respond to us means they’re busy or just having a bad day and it has nothing at all to do with us.

If we deflect the negativity with God’s unfailing love, we are enabled to not only help ourselves. but to reach out to help them. We don’t worry about the result.

We don’t need to, either.

“Hoping, believing and enduring all things” frees us from the chains of ugly thoughts.

God’s love for us unburdens us from any expectation and constantly refreshes us to love like He does.

We take “self” out of the equation.

That’s what love is.

That’s what it does.

And that’s why it is so wonderfully freeing.

God is holy and He is love; His love is the only love that is pure.

When we are close to Him, we experience pure love. Without HIS love, we are nothing (1 Corinthians 13:2).
