Why Don Trump Jr. Made Waves on ABC’s ‘The View’

A full day after Donald Trump Jr. — the president’s eldest child — appeared on “The View” alongside his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, people are still talking about how he fired back at the co-hosts who are decidedly against his father’s administration and have frequently shared their feelings with their audiences.

Among other memorable moments, Don Jr. on Thursday dared to mention that co-host Joy Behar had worn blackface in her past — something “The View” itself had actually shared some years back in a video clip.

But Behar, on the hot seat and sitting right there with Don Jr., denied it.

She herself had said she had dressed as “a beautiful African woman” when she was 29 years old and attending a party.

But aside from that, the portion of the Trump Jr. appearance that was perhaps the hottest was when Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), questioned the younger Trump about his father’s attacks on her war-hero dad.

“A lot of Americans in politics miss character,” she began in her broadside, “and a lot of people miss the soul of this country.”

“You and your family,” Meghan McCain went on, “have hurt a lot of people and put a lot of people through a lot of pain,” she said in part.

“Does all this make you feel good?”

Don Jr. replied firmly by defending President Donald Trump — and said his dad has “worked tirelessly” on behalf of this country.

He gave specifics as well — at which point the ladies of “The View” tried to talk over him.

“We have all done things that we regret,” Don Jr. also said. “I don’t think any of that makes me feel good,” he said.

But “part of being president is having a pair that can take whatever comes toward you. My father’s got a pair,” he said bluntly.
