When we live in God’s righteousness, He fills our heart with a peace we could have never imagined.
Righteousness draws us deeper into His Holy presence.
This close relationship with God is the portal to our peace.
I remember the morning I first recognized this strong connection between righteousness and peace.
I was about four years into my pursuit of God, and I was lying in bed with the windows open, listening to the rain and inhaling the dewy air from the raindrops pattering softly on the trees.
Suddenly I was shocked by the realization that I was at complete peace — I was anxious about absolutely nothing.
God immediately reminded me of this verse: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
My desire to live led by the Holy Spirit had drawn me to live with a clean heart.
Thus, I was no longer empowering evil to steal my peace.
Living amid this dark world with God is so much richer than life without Him.
With Him, we become like a prince who is a beacon of light in the darkness and a shelter from the storm.
We are water in the desert and shade from the blistering sun.

The Bible says, “Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule in justice. Each will be like a hiding place from the wind, a shelter from the storm, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shade of a great rock in a weary land … Justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness abide in the fruitful field. And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places” (Isaiah 32:1-2; 16-18).
Can you say with complete certainty that you are experiencing complete peace?
If not — draw close to Holy and Almighty God.
His righteousness will give you peace.
His peace is a million times more priceless than anything unholy you might be clinging to right now.
Walking close to Him, we have peace in any storm.
