President Donald Trump has accused former President Barack Obama of committing treason by allegedly spying on his campaign during the 2016 presidential election.
Trump made these comments to conservative pundit Doug Wead for his upcoming book, “Inside Trump’s White House: The Real Story of His Presidency.”
“What they did was treasonous, OK? It was treasonous,” Trump said, according to the Daily Mail.
“I have never, ever said this, but truth is, they got caught spying. They were spying.”
Trump then said that he was referring to “Obama.”
The president explained that he believes that individuals in the Obama administration worked behind the scenes to take him down as he battled 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
“The interesting thing out of all of this is that we caught them spying on the election. They were spying on my campaign. So you know? What is that all about?” Trump asked Wead. “I have never, ever said this, but truth is, they got caught spying. They were spying.”
When asked who he was referring to, Trump once again said, “Obama.”
In the same interview, Trump said his campaign never collaborated with Russia.
“It turned out I was right, by the way,” Trump said. “In fact, what I said was peanuts compared to what they did. They were spying on my campaign. They got caught and they said, ‘Oh, we were not spying. It was actually an investigation.’ Can you imagine an administration investigating its political opponents?”

This comes days after Trump called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to investigate Obama’s Syrian “red line.”
“Pelosi is now leading a delegation of nine, including Corrupt Adam Schiff, to Jordan to check out Syria,” Trump tweeted last Sunday.
“She should find out why Obama drew The Red Line In the Sand, & then did NOTHING, losing Syria & all respect. I did something, 58 missiles. One million died under Obama’s mistake!”

Trump also recently said Obama should have been impeached many times during his presidency.
“They could’ve impeached Obama for the IRS scandal. They could impeach him for the guns … Guns went all over the place and people got killed, Fast and Furious,” Trump said.
“They could’ve impeached him for many different things.”
