Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) — a member of the so-called Democratic squad — claimed that Democrat lawmakers are looking into how to arrest officials from the Trump White House who do not comply with subpoenas from Congress.
Tlaib made the stunning comment during a “Congress, Coffee, and Conversation” event this week, as the Washington Free Beacon and others reported, at which she said Democrats are trying to figure out how to get Trump’s Cabinet members behind bars.
“This is really unprecedented,” she told the audience,.
“This is the first time we’ve ever had a situation like this,” she added.
“So they’re trying to figure out — no joke — is it the D.C. police that goes and gets them? We don’t know. Where do we hold them?”
“I’m asking … What happens?” she also said.
Tlaib, one of the four progressive congresswomen who make up the squad , was caught on camera making these remarks by an individual connected to the America Rising super PAC.
She was talking about what she thought would happen to officials in the Trump administration who were held in contempt of Congress.
She pointed out that Attorney General William Barr and Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross have been held in criminal contempt of Congress for defying congressional subpoenas.
See the video of Tlaib’s remarks here:
Tlaib was referencing that the House of Representatives decided — by a vote of 230 to 198 — to ask the Department of Justice to prosecute Barr and Ross, marking the second time in American history that a sitting member of a presidential Cabinet was held in criminal contempt of Congress.
The first instance of this came seven years ago — when then-Attorney General Eric Holder, during the Obama years, was held in contempt for refusing to turn over documents pertaining to the Operation Fast and Furious weapons-running scandal.
On Tuesday, Tlaib said Democrat lawmakers are “trying to tread carefully” in this “uncharted territory.”
“I will tell them they can hold all those people right here in Detroit,” the liberal congresswoman joked to her friendly crowd. “We’ll take care of them and make sure they show up to the committee hearings.”
Tlaib is not the only Democrat lawmaker who is fantasizing about putting Trump and his Cabinet officials in prison.
Earlier this week, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) tweeted that President Trump should be “imprisoned” and “placed in solitary confinement.”
“I’m calling on the GOP to stop Trump’s filthy talk of whistleblowers being spies & using mob language implying they should be killed,” Waters tweeted on Tuesday.
“Impeachment is not good enough for Trump. He needs to be imprisoned & placed in solitary confinement. But for now, impeachment is the imperative.”

It is melodramatic and over-the-top statements like these from Tlaib and Waters that have made millions of Americans lose faith in the Democratic Party — a party that will clearly do and say just about anything to try to destroy this president.
If Democrats keep spouting this ridiculous rhetoric — they might just end up getting Trump re-elected in 2020.
